Have you ever missed your friends so much that it makes you hurt? I think I am just sick of always being the "new people" in our ward. Have you ever taken your husband for granted? (Now...summer sales doesn't look so bad...it was kind of nice having him all to ourselves for the rest of the year!) Have you ever dreaded being home ALL day 7am-7pm with two little kiddos and without any friends close by to just stop in or go to the park with or just come over and chat? I miss my friends so much...you ALL know who you are. I think I am just having one of those days, those days where I just wish I was surrounded by all the girls who mean so much to me and who I can just be myself with. It's hard moving somewhere new and not knowing ANYONE. And having to start all over, from scratch. I know it will get better but as for now...I miss my friends! Who would have thought I would get so emotional while I am writing this...weird. I guess what even got me started on this is what happened today at the park. So this morning we woke up and I decided that I need to do something for the boys today. So we were going to head over to the LA Arboretum since it was FREE day but on my way I decided just to take them to the park. So we pull up, get out of the car and Crew immediately runs up to this little girl who was already there and just starts playing with her like she is his BEST friend. They just talked like they've known each other forever and before you know it Crew is even calling her by her name, "Betsy." It's just little moments like this one that happened today that make me wish we all could be more like little kids and just immediately be everyone's best friends and ACT like we have known each other for YEARS. Thanks Crew for being so friendly and reminding me that I need to be more like YOU! Sorry for my long, boring, rambling on post..i just MISS my friends!

It's interesting what your own kids teach you if you take the time to really observe them. I don't think this post was boring at all. It's probably one of your more interesting ones. I love reading people's thoughts in writing. I know photos are worth a thousand words but writing is a therapeutic and eloquent art in which we learn how to better communicate with each other. I hear ya on the whole staying at home with two kiddos and husband gone, being the new people all the time. I take my hubby for granted sometimes too. But it takes special moments like the one you just described to put things into perpective. I think Crew just remembers something that we don't. That in the pre-existence, we were probably all best friends. Thanx for sharing your thoughts. :o)
ReplyDeleteI completely understand how you feel. Change is rough sometimes, especially when you feel lonely. We sure do miss you guys and I can't wait to see you in a couple of weeks! Hang in there ...
ReplyDeleteJenny-
ReplyDeleteWelcome to my world the last 8 months. I know exactly how you feel (other than the kiddos thing)and I feel like that every day since we moved to Arizona. So if you ever need to chat or anything please call me! I know we are in different states now, but I'm in the same boat as you. Be grateful you have those cute boys to keep you busy and company... :) We miss you guys.
:( Jenny you made me cry! I miss you! We need some girl time for sure, I need to see when I can make a trip. Love you and miss you, and no worries I know just how you feel and still feel it sometimes. I hope you find a really good friend out there. Well, until I get out there... Hehehe!
ReplyDeleteI MISS YOU! I know that before you know it you will have made fast friends there but I think we can all relate to what you're saying. Especially the 7am-7pm thing. Even though there's distance, I am ALWAYS here for you and I know you are for me too! Love you.

ReplyDeleteSad. I have so been there before. All of the sudden you will find that person- YOUR person and be so very thankful for at least that one person in your life... Good luck-hope you find her soon :) Girlfriends are a must when you are a young mother... you don't realize it until you realize how much you need one! Miss you guys!
ReplyDeleteI was totally feeling this same way when i texted you the other day about coming there for law school! Its hard not having a best girlfriend around that you can hang out with 24/7. You are so beautiful and fun and outgoing that people are attracted to being around you... you will meet some fun girls soon to make friends with :) love ya girl and miss you tons!! I wish you could be here too to hang out and see the baby :)
ReplyDeleteHey Jenny,
ReplyDeleteThis is Dana...the one that moved out of your ward a few weeks after you moved in (and would have lived just a block from you!).
Someone in the ward forwarded your blog to me. Beautiful photography skills!
And I just have to say that I feel EXACTLY like your post right now. It's wonderful to hear it stated so well! (and sad at the same time).
I'm in Texas. I miss my friends. I have to start over and be the eager go-getter, super friendly girl right now. It's hard. I know exactly how you're feeling! I just want to call up one of the old friends and say, hey, let' go to the park in 1/2 hour.
But, such is life. I'm sorry we both have to go through this right now but hopefully it makes us stronger, right?
Good luck to you! I can't imagine any wouldn't want to be your friend. So I'm sure you'll have it made very soon. I'll have to check back in on your blog in the future!
